Week 14: The summers we've had | Brenda Rose

Voices sounded like

Summer sighs

And we're the wind blew

We got lifted high
Beautiful colours
Surrounded us
With light from the past
And just like apples gathered from a tree
We reaped

Oh, what a lovely summer we've had

We came to see
Our lives are wired
With the days
We lived back when we we're young
We remenisced
And what we did back then
We've now repeated

Oh, what a lovely summer we've had
With tales from the past
A new history
We've made

We sang 'till we're soar
Swam 'till we're cold
Laughed 'till we cried
Then and now

So thanks to our mothers
Thanks to our fathers
Thanks to our brothers
And anyone who loved us

Oh, what a precious youth we've had
Oh, what a life of complexities we've had
Oh, what a lovely life we've built
With thanks to the friends
And the good men we have

Oh, the summers we've had

Week 13: All of a Sudden | Tamar Lewis

Wasn't it a sweet, sweet summer, when we look back
Polaroid pictures, red Allstars
Looking back and thinking over how we got here
Touching borders, hitting brick walls

Days of waiting by the mailbox, with the sun upon my face
Doves flew over, dropping letters, oh how time flew by
Standing still and breathing out what was and in what is to come
Wrapped in cotton, drenched in hot chocolate

All of a sudden
The summer is over
What shall we do
Now the leaves are falling from the trees
All of a sudden
The colours are fading
Let's make summer last
Through the winter

Isn't there a cold, cold winter laying ahead of us
Frozen hands and chapped lips
Rushing through the fall, walking in the rain
Hiding away at home where love lives

Evenings watching  the snow falling where daisies used to bloom
Ginger cookies and milk because it's too cold to fall asleep
Standing still and breathing out what was and in what is to come
Wrapped in cotton, drenched in hot chocolate

Standing still and breathing out what was and in what is to come
Wrapped in cotton, drenched in hot chocolate

Week 12: Underneath the stars  | Brenda Rose

Streetlight
Falls upon my eyes
As I lie awake
I cannot sleep
I think about those times
When under the starlight
We strolling through these summer evenings

When underneath the stars we were wandering
Summer full of teenage sleepovers
Oh these slow weekends
We worried 'bout nothing
Breathing slowly out and in

Close to midnight
We still talk about daytime
Oh whatever happened then
Did he look at me
Or was it just pretend
We'll analyze it over and over again

Underneath the stars we were wandering
Summer full of teenage sleepovers
Oh these slow weekends
We worried 'bout nothing
Breathing slowly out and in

Guided by starlight
Protected by moonlight
Welcomed by sunlight

Started on Friday
Again on a Saturday
Ended on Sunday
But every day

I was with you
I was with you
Oh these slow weekends
We worried 'bout nothing
Breathing slowly out and in

Week 11: How to fall asleep | Tamar Lewis

Some say that all you have to do is to drink hot milk
A touch of sweetness, honey anise seed blend

Or to sit down next to a fence the flock to keep
Maybe you'll fall asleep by counting jumping sheep

Perhaps the sound of violins will ease your mind
Take a sip of camomile and tea combined

Pick some lavender on your way to the park
Then keep the purple flower underneath the bed

If the full moon is keeping you awake
Change the curtains choose the black instead of white

Stop watching the world spinning around on TV
Try reading a novel from the precious century

And if you tried it all
But still you are wide awake
Just like when we were small
Call me

Week 10: Colourful Dress  | Brenda Rose

Do you remember
The times that we dreamed together
About London and America
And every far place we could think of

We wanted to leave
And now I see we wanted to flee
Escape to every place that wasn't real
Escape to every place that wasn't here

Black was the colour we'd sent
A little red to show the restless mind

And every colourless shirt we wore
A reflection

Since that period of time
Our lives became a little calmer
And then you turned into a butterfly
And sing songs about floating through the sky

You've showed us the colour of your heart
And I thank you for that

And every colourful dress you wear
A reflection

On this special day
I wish you yellow no more grey
I wish you soft pink and some apple green
A little vintage orange and baby blue

And for that restless mind
A little light through some plain white

And every colourful dress to be
A reflection

Week 9: In Their Eyes | Tamar Lewis

You said summer felt like time stood still
And asked if I would help you to keep memories real
For a moment I thought it over
But I as well tend to forget

Seeing those pictures again that you sent
Those trees and where they stood I don't remember
The days and how they felt are like a dream
They fade when the fall sets in

When the fall sets in
When the fall sets in
When the fall sets in

Last year in the winter I came to know
The miracle of ongoing life
Held my son so close to my chest
My hands so tight round his back

As we sat there all alne in his room
At night when no one else was awake
Memories of childhood just came to me
As I looked at him

As I looked at him
As I looked at him
As I looked at him

Recalling
Days you and I spent in our rooms
Recordig our songs on cassette
Eating colourful chocolate
Carelessly making our memories

Making our memories
Making our memories
Making our memories

So when those precious memories start to fade
And I cannot help you to keep them real
In the eyes of our children we'll find them
As they grow

Week 8: Growth | Brenda Rose

When I wake up it 'll be gone
Gone the quiet dreams we wrote
As we dream our lives to the unknown
We grow

Summer felt like time stood still
We forgot it never will
As we swim our lives to solid shores
We grow

I set a mark where you
Wrote a part about growth
As I turn pages I read through all ages
And we grew
We still grow

Someday memories will fade
Will you help me to keep them real
As we walk our miles we're walking home
And we grow

Week 7: First of August | Tamar Lewis

Again the morning came on time
Again you opened up your eyes
Again this day a holiday
Another year's begun

366 pictures made of you
Anxious, sad or still in love
Each single one is you

It's the first of August
Another year's begun
I wish you many songs to write
And lot's of love to give
I pray that you'll be full of life
And see many more years

Think of how and where you've been
And who you have become
Really worth to celebrate
Another year's begun
It's the first of August
Another years begun

Maybe when we're old and grey
We'll be knitting all day long
Sweaters for our great-grandchildren
Though we can't remember their names
I will help you cook a stew
And you will help me do my hair
Have a cake and drink some tea
'Cause another year's begun
It's the first of August
Another year's begun
Happy first of August
Another year's begun

Week 6: From Far With Love | Brenda Rose

Out in the sun
I travel the far and foreign roads
Led by a star
Chased by the wind
On my way to freedom

80 degrees
A white sandy beach
Here it's fine
'Cause he's in my dreams
His hand in my hand when we sleep on an aero bed

From far
With love
From far away with love
With love
From far

You know that fresh summer breeze
Gives me energy
Fills my heart where it once was empty
With his hand in my hand
I'll be safe here
Cause he'll be right next to me
In the car
While the landscape changed into holiday
I'll send you a card
I'll call you as soon as I get back again

From far
With love
From far away with love
With love
From far away with love

Back on the road again
You'll be right there in my thoughts
'Cause even when I'm far
You're in my heart

From far with love

Week 5: 22:22 | Tamar Lewis

Did you hear the church clocks?
What do they sound like in France
Alike the ones I hear in the cold?
Over 400 miles
Between common and new
Well, nothing much has happened here
I'm sure it's different where you are

It's 22:22
Look up, we've got the same view
Somewhere between me and you
The sun has made way for the moon

What's it like in the sun?
Away from things you need to do
And don't and should and have to
Would you write it down for me?
In a letter to remind me
How it feels to be free
I hope it gets here soon

It's 22:22
Look up, we've got the same view
Somewhere between me and you
The sun has made way for the moon
And the day is almost through
I know that you see it too
Somewhere out there

It's 22:22
Look up, we've got the same view
Somewhere between me and you
The sun has made way for the moon

And the day is almost through
I know that you see it too
Did you here the church clocks?
What do they sound like in France?

Week 4 - Summer Healing | Brenda Rose

Nothing was asked for
Or even forgotten
It only existed in the midst of time
I was aware and
I was exhausted

I needed time
To clean the battlefield
To lay my head down
Save in the sun
Wishing summer 'll heal

I couldn't repair where I've have been
I couldn't repair but maybe some solving
Could prepare for where I can be

I needed time
To clean the battlefield
To lay my head down
Save in the sunlight
Wishing summer 'll heal

And sprinkle the sun on feelings
Warm summer sun on feelings
I needed time to breath in
I just needed time to breath in

Oh you were there
Thank God you were there
To be with you made it easier
To forget about all of these feelings

And lay our heads down save in the sunlight
Wishing summer 'll heal
We're wishing summer 'll heal

Week 3 - The Secret Garden | Tamar Lewis

When it said 'The End' that night
We both took a breath
The movie's made you dream away
You  just stood there
Thoughtlessly streched out your arms
Drifted away
Oh I can still hear you say
How did I get here

Must have been the scent of roses
Must have been the scent of roses

Years gone by stood by your side
How could I've known
Writing letters shared our pain
At least we thought so
You could tell me anything
But you could not

You could tell me anything
But you could not
You were quiet at the hope for roses
Quiet at the hope for roses
You were quiet at the hope for roses
While we're laughing in the sun

Thank God that is over now
But still I wonder
Do you even realize
Just how much I love you
Departing from that fenced yard
Even when you're trembling
Towards the horizon
You're not bothering me at all

Wish that I could turn the tide
Then you wouldn't be alone
Wish that I could turn the tide
Then you wouldn't be alone
In the Secret Garden
In that Secret Garden

Even when you're trembling
Towards the horizon
Don't stay quiet at the hope for roses
Don't stay quiet at the hope for roses

Week 2 - A Long Day | Brenda Rose

I picture us back in the day
Same shirt
We sit by the lake
Listening to music our mothers can't take
Watching the boys hesitate

Gone, long gone
Gone, long gone

When you would envy my eyebrows
And I'd be impressed by your nails
Wishing I'd play the guitar that well
But that never changed, still the same

Gone, long gone
Gone, long gone

And oh
It's a long day
Out in the sun
Where our hearts sing
Our song

And each day a day to embrace
We're gliding on silvery waves
And as the sun sets
The movies are played
We're chewing on buttery maize

Gone, long gone
Gone, long gone

And oh
It's a long day
Out in the sun
Where our hearts sing
Our song

Week 1 - Dawson's Creek | Tamar Lewis

Summer is nothing like in Dawson's Creek
No sneaking out of the window, away in the night
Tomorrow will not wait and appeals to me
Wake up early
Ooh

Summer is nothing like in Dawson's Creek
No house near the water no love on the lake for me
Common things in life aren't framed at all
With a lovesong
Ooh

Summer would be perfect
But haven't you noticed the sound of the trees that dance
Dance with the wind, even when we are unaware
There, a tune is formed out of rain and snow
It's not the sun, but the cold that will shape our soul
Ooh

Summer would be perfect
Oh my friend, though summer is not like in Dawson's Creek
Now we know let's forget all the dreams we dreamt
Grasp the summer like it is the last
